The National TIS Workers Workshop was held on the lands of the Larrakia people in Garramilla (Darwin) on 7-8 March 2023. This workshop was one of the largest gatherings of TIS workers, partners, experts and supporters of the TIS program.

This presentation was delivered by Lena Etuk and Thushara Dibley from CIRCA and provides an update on their TIS evaluation. The presentation includes an evaluation overview, information on evaluation in 2022-2023 and 2023-2026, and a progress update.
Nation to Nation Café – Vaping: Same but Different
In this Nation to Nation Café session, TIS teams discussed vaping and what activities they were doing to change youth attitudes and behaviour about vaping. You can read the report summarising the key findings of the café here.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health From Person to Population – ANU
This presentation was delivered by Shavaun Wells, Christina Heris, Dean Pousini-Hilton, Maya Morton Ninomiya, Makayla Holz, Rohan Telford and Raglan Maddox from Australian National University (ANU). It provides information on elements of effective tobacco control programs, factors that influence smoking cessation, demographic differences in smoking prevalence, tobacco control activities, anti-smoking attitudes, knowledges and belief, the TIS program Mayi Kuwayu Study findings, e-cigarettes and confused messaging, locally tailored and culturally safe communication, and a discussion on how TIS teams want to receive information.
Tobacco Vaping and E-Cigarettes – Cameron Manning and Kerindy Clarke
This presentation was delivered by Cameron Manning from Cancer Council NSW, and Kerindy Clarke from Quitline. Cameron provided information about their upcoming Aboriginal e-cigarette/vaping research project, which is a satellite project to Generation Vape. Kerindy discussed vaping campaigns in NSW.
