Sharing your World No Tobacco Day events and pictures

On Thursday 31 May 2018, people around the globe observed World No Tobacco Day, an opportunity to highlight the health and other risks associated with smoking tobacco.

The 37 Tackling Indigenous Smoking teams across Australia hosted a number of events as part of World No Tobacco Day. Please see below for some information about how each team got involved with this important day.

Bega Garnbirringu Health Service

For World No Tobacco Day, the Bega TIS team organised a series of events in partnership with the Cancer Council of Western Australia (WA). These events included:

  • stalls at Career’s Day, a local netball carnival and at St Barbara Square in Kalgoorlie
  • gift bags for the winning teams at the netball carnival
  • interactive displays placed at the Bega Garnbirringu Clinic, public library, Cancer Council WA and Wizard Pharmacy.

In addition Bega organised to share a Ricky Dimer’s personal story in the local newspapers to encourage Aboriginal people in the Kalgoorlie region to quit smoking.
